Bright Future for Scholarship Recipient
“I actually found out about the scholarship through my mom,” says Ashley Bland, a May 2019 graduate from Battle High School. “One night we were searching around the internet for scholarships, and she remembered that she had heard about one from Boone Electric's Trust. The next day, I asked Sharla Hyler, Battle’s counseling secretary about it and she gave me the application.”
Bland is attending Wichita State University this fall and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a minor in Chemistry. After that, she will either continue to medical school or enter the workforce with a research position.
“It is an honor to be a recipient and this helps take a large part of the financial burden off of myself and my family, which I am thankful for,” says Bland. “Operation Round Up is such an easy program to be part of, and contributions go a long way toward helping people that need it. You can do as little as donating your spare change by rounding up your bill to the next whole dollar and end up funding a student’s education or helping a charity. I would like to thank each member of Operation Round Up. Your generosity goes a long way.”
